Welcome to the Acupuncture and Psychotherapy Practice of Sheri (Cheryl) DePetro

Awaken the Spirit Wellness Center, LLC offers two basic services: acupuncture and psychotherapy. Sheri DePetro is both a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Acupuncturist and works within both as individual modalities.

Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is a powerful system of medicine. Practiced for over 3000 years in China, the benefit of acupuncture treatment is now clearly recognized and well documented in western medical journals and in medical institutions across the United States.

Because of its relatively low cost and its noninvasive nature, acupuncture has become a highly popular form of complementary health care. In this gentle form of medicine, each treatment is designed uniquely to address imbalance as each individual specifically experiences it. Symptoms are viewed in relationship to the totality of a person in order to explore the underlying cause of an illness or disease.

Psychotherapy
Sometimes you feel like you need to talk to someone, someone who can help. Maybe you feel that you can't do it alone or you feel trapped, like there's nowhere to turn or you worry all the time, and never seem to find the answers. Perhaps the way you feel is affecting your sleep, your eating habits, your job, and your relationships; your everyday life.

Recognizing the need for professional help is a good first step towards making the changes you desire. Psychotherapy, or counseling as it is commonly known, can be of real benefit, providing help for a wide range of problems such as depression, anxiety, loss, career issues, marital strife, parent-child concerns, or emotional distress. It can also help fulfill aspirations for personal growth or self-improvement. I have an eclectic practice, combining western training in social work with an eastern approach, creating a more holistic approach toward wellness. Because the mind, the body and the spirit are all connected, I apply the most appropriate technique as called for in each situation.

All of my patients are asked to take responsibility for their lives and work with the gifts they have within the context of the mind, body and spirit connection.
